Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Ok y’all, this movie was L.I.T. As everyone else can agree, the soundtrack was amazing again (though I prefer the first), I laughed nearly every scene, and it really had a lot of heart despite all the comedy. We recently rewatched the first one and I actually preferred this one MUCH more than the first. Most likely because we already knew the characters and it was easy to fall back into their lives.
However, I had already read some of the comics of this series so I did know the plot twist, but forgot some of the specifics. I am also 100x more excited for Mission Breakout in California and really excited that Starlord and Baby Groot meet here at Walt Disney World. Groot is the cutest!
Highly Illogical Behavior – John Corey Whaley
100% I picked this book up because of the cover, but it was a really heartfelt story about a kid with Agoraphobia who hasn’t left his house in 3 years. Solomon is essentially a normal kid except that he has intense and debilitating panic attacks and has caused him to remain inside his home, fearful of the outside world. This book follows Solomons journey as he befriends two former classmates. I really loved this book because it wasn’t about finding a cure but finding friendship and small steps to recovery.
The One Hundred Nights of Hero – Isabel Greenberg
This is a graphic novel about a LOT of badass women and a lesbian couple trying to fight against man’s oppression, what more could you really want out of a book? Seriously, this is worth your time.
A Man Called Ove – Fredrik Backman
This book really lives up to the hype. It is a simple tale of a grouchy old man named Ove and his life of love, loss, and his ongoing attempts at suicide. It really is much more endearing and great than my description has made it out to be. Reads as a family saga get on this.
Corner of Broadway & Mainstreet Album – Voctave
Voctave is an Orlando based a cappella group featuring A LOT of singers from Voices of Liberty at Epcot which is how my friends and I found out about them. They are absolutely incredible and their newest album stated above just came out the last couple weeks and every song is amazing. I am personally a big fan of How Far I’ll Go, and their Showstopper covers. You can find their album on spotify and if you like their music you can find Voices of Liberty’s specific album Magic of Voices which is equally as incredible.
I, for one, am SO excited to have 4th of July off this year and celebrate by hanging out at Epcot and probably watching every performance .
Every Single Night – Darren Criss
I started watching Starkid right after they released their sequel A Very Potter Musical and have loved them ever since. Of course, Darren Criss has gained some spotlight and released his own album. I recently saw he posted a video for one of his songs which I hadn’t heard and it’s really a complete jam featuring some friends from starkid. If you wanna get your fun and free dance on, this is your hit.
Klean Kanteen Insulated Bottle. As I’m writing this I actually bought another Klean Kanteen bottle at Target yesterday for half off. This one is insulated, bigger, and doesn’t come with an attached drinking lid, but it is leak proof which I thought would be good for longer trips. I filled it with water and put ice in it around 9pm last night and when I woke up at 3AM to drink some it STILL HAD ICE IN IT. 6 hours sitting on my table and all the ice still hadn’t yet melted, that is some insulation right there. If you guys are needing a good water bottle, this is it.
Making My Own Mocha Lattes. Lattes are usually about $3-4 everytime I get them from Joffreys, coffee shops, or Dunkin. Lately my Dunkin has been letting me down so I decided to try and make it myself at home. For me, I use a medium sized cup or jar. 1/2-3/4 parts Almond Milk, 1/4 parts coffee (I use Target French Roast 1 cup to 1.5 tbps coffee grounds), a good squeeze of chocolate syrup to taste, and 1 truvia sweetner packet. Shake it up real good and throw in some ice cubes!
